Something / Other

In Make It / Let It, we found the center, a place of balance. The balance between pushing forward and laying back. There are many different flavors of balance perhaps, and here are a few more.

The ensemble plays Hey or any other ensemble game.

The soloist plays a collection of random notes. You just choose them on your instrument without any intention.  Simply listen as you move instrument across your instrument at random.

In the game Sing / Touch we learned to truly mean each note on our instrument by singing them first.  Create a beautifully sung melody truly meaning and investing in each note, playing it on your instrument.

Alternate between the two approaches until they become one thing.

Or. Instead of intent and random, alternate between fast and slow.

Or. Try alternating between “maximum talkativeness” and “maximum groove”

Or.  Try alternating between other contrasting feelings such as nice/crazy, silly/sorrow, quiet love/intense anger, etc.
